¡Salud! It’s National Tequila Day!
It’s no secret that we love to #drinkplants, which is just one of the many reasons we like to sneak some tequila into our juice from time to time.
In case you didn’t know, tequila is a distilled spirit made in Mexico from the blue agave plant. According to Decanter.com, there are 166 different species of agave, however tequila can only be made from the Weber Blue, an agave plant named after the German botanist who first classified the species based on observing the slight blue hue of its green foliage. This plant particularly thrives in silicate-rich, red volcanic soils, which is abundant in the region around the city of Tequila (sorry, we obviously completely geek out over all things plants!!).
What better way to party with plants than tequila infused cold-pressed juice? Enter our friends at 21 Seeds, a female-founded company that infuses fresh, fruity and floral ingredients into their tequila to create flavors like Grapefruit Hibiscus, Valencia Orange, and Cucumber Jalapeño (yes, yes, and yes please!). We partnered up with them to create a couple of plant powered healthy(er) tequila cocktails to sip on in celebration of National Tequila Day, and saying we’re obsessed is an understatement. Don’t just take our word for it though – check them out and whip up one for yourself. ¡Salud!
